Blessing of the Pets
Between September and October, many churches around the world will celebrate something that St. Francis of Assisi started almost 800 years ago: The blessing of our animals. It was Francis who first introduced the idea that human beings are only one of a myriad of creations of God and all are blessed in God's "eyes." In many countries you would see a procession of people walking their animals close to the church to be able to be part of the blessing of the animals, They celebrate this day with gratitude and laughter for the many wonderful gifts God has given his creation.
For single householders, a pet can be a true companion. Many people arrive home from work to find a furry friend overjoyed at their return. Many a senior has a lap filled with a purring fellow creature.
The bond between person and pet is like no other relationship because the communication between fellow creatures is at its most basic. Eye-to-eye, a man and his dog or a woman and her cat are two creatures of love.
All are invited to bring their pets.
We will have a vendor fair along with this event from 9 am - 3 pm
